Morgan forces his fortune to turn around at Silverstone

Adam Morgan and the WIX Racing team were again bang on the pace at round 9 of the British Touring Car Championship at Silverstone. Adam heads into the final round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch on a massive high after a fantastic aggressive driving display. A mechanical problem in the first of the day’s three races could have spelt disaster for Adam’s top ten aspirations but he and his WIX Racing Team more than rose to the occasion and delivered two more points finishes.

Adam qualified the WIX Racing A Class Mercedes in 9th place for the first of the days races in a qualifying session, which was so close that the first 23 cars were within the same second. Adam’s starts have been perfect all year and again he shot away from the line holding his position even though he had rear wheel drive cars behind him. On the 3rd lap Adam positioned himself perfectly and on the power early stole 3 positions going into Brooklands and exiting Luffield. Adam then gapped the drivers behind him and began to reel in the leading group, setting the fastest lap along the way, when he was forced to retire the WIX Racing A Class Mercedes due to an electrical issue. “That was such a shame” explained Adam “The car was on rails, it was perfect and I was closing on those in front when I lost all power. It’s the team’s first mechanical failure of the year so let’s hope they can get it fixed and ready for the next race, I am well up for it today!”

In the second race of the day Adam had to start from a lowly 27th on the grid and with only two real overtaking opportunities around the tight fast 1.6 mile circuit Adam drove brilliantly and overtook 12 cars to bring the WIX Racing A Class Mercedes home in a very creditable 15th place. “I am still smarting over what could have been but I really enjoyed that one carving my way through the field, the car set up is spot on” said Adam “I am desperate for points and to show everybody just how far our car has come, I am going all out in the last race of the day”
Race three saw Adam make yet another perfect start from the 8th row of the grid. Adam, the current lap record holder around Silverstone, produced his drive of the day. Aggressive, controlled and determined he fought hard throughout the entire race and never put a foot wrong, back at the ‘sharp’ end of the field he again set the fastest lap of the race and to the cheers of his supporters and the mechanics in the garage capped off a superb, faultless days racing with an amazing 7th place. Adam was also awarded the Independent Driver Award as the driver who improved his starting position the best during all three races (20 places) for the second time this year. “Not been a bad day after all” commented Adam “This car just keeps on giving, Paul Ridgway and the rest of the lads have been outstanding and have been moving onwards and upwards, we have learnt so much this year, it’s been mega”

Norman Burgess Commercial & Marketing Manager “Adam’s been epic this year and it makes my life so much easier!! The WIX Racing VIP Guests get so carried away with his all-out driving style and after meeting him in the hospitality suite they are hooked. Adam was dashing around like a mad man off track too!! He had his Q&A session in the suite then had two pit lane autograph sessions, he is so easy to work alongside though, very, very modest and grounded and probably the most genuine, friendly and polite bloke I know. All our guests enjoy a terrific experience with the team, we look forward to meeting new people and making new friends every week ” Norman continued “Commercially things are perfect, the majority of the teams sponsors have already pledged their support for next year and in the world of motorsport that’s very early, we must be doing something right!”
