Now then (I’m Northern!)

When is it going to happen? WIX Racing has one of the best drivers, in one of the best cars, engineered by one of the best engineers in one of the best teams. In reality everything with regard to the development of the WIX Racing A Class Mercedes is going to plan. In fact, 5 points finishes out of 6 races with a brand new car and no breakdown is nothing short of sensational in my unbiased opinion! Adam is fit, focused and his race craft and temperament couldn’t be more perfect. Our day will come, we are still hanging around the top ten of the championship and there are 24 races to go, we are only going to get better and better.

The engineers and mechanics are busy gathering and exploiting data and the WIX Racing Mercedes is improving after every session, it’s brilliant in the dry but, a lack of wet winter testing hampered our progress at Donington (it’s not often we can say that in the UK) I can’t even begin to tell you how complicated a Touring Car is to set up and when I say I can’t, it’s because I have no idea!  Its way above my below average level of intelligence!! I have known our engineer, Paul Ridgway for about 5 years and am often amazed at the amount of time he spends staring at squiggly lines on his lap top and is then able to transfer this data to the car and more often than not Adam goes faster and can immediately feel the improvement. Paul has to deal with height, weight, camber, engine data, suspension, brakes and the weather! The list, like me goes on and on and on. His list of improvements and the compromises these often lead to, is endless.

The WIX Racing hospitality suite is a brilliant place to work, we provide the good old bacon butty for breakfast and lunch for up to 80 people on a Sunday. The atmosphere in the awning is always a bit of buzz. All, not the majority, of our VIP guests have been interested in both the Racing and the Team so far this year, they are always polite and courteous, our entire little hospitality team are working together like a well oiled machine, thriving on the positive comments and the feeling of job satisfaction is very high. Feeding up to 80 guests, 20 team members, grid walks, meeting and greeting, cooking in a portable kitchen and awning in the middle of nowhere is no easy task but week in week out we pull it off, under the watchful eye of Martyn Bell’s lovely wife Rachael, who stands for none of my cheek, spends the majority of her day lapping the paddock faster than Adam could ever do and in her pinny!!!

I look forward to writing again after Thruxton, let’s hope it stays dry, we are supposed to be enjoying a tropical spell! The 10 inches of water I was standing in on Sunday morning was obviously the tropical rain storm part of that spell!

We have a race and championship winner in Adam Morgan, of that we are certain. Onwards and upwards, we’re only in it, to win it…..

Cheers
