What a disaster!!!
Actually the Oulton Park weekend was not! Every team in every Championship has a bogey weekend, its part of the game. We didn’t score any points but, Adam is fit and well, the car has only minor damage and we were able to collect loads of very valuable wet running data. Having no data for the new WIX Racing Mercedes A Class has been an expected obstacle, in the great scheme of things the car is improving with every lap, we are always learning and improving.
I have on many occasions experienced unexpected bouts of unwelcome and often embarrassing emotion in the past. The WIX Racing team has many, many more ups than downs and it’s impossible to enjoy the good days without coping with the not so good.
The WIX Racing Mercedes has finished in all but one race this year so far and the only race it didn’t finish in was due to contact from another driver. The car is consistent Adam is fully focused and driving fantastically well. As a unit the WIX Racing Team should be very proud of their performance so far.
The hospitality suite is running like a dream. Hospitality is a really important tool in any professional Racing Team, sponsors invest vast amounts of money, time and effort into ensuring that their guests receive a ‘money can’t buy experience’! Networking is paramount in the hospitality suite between a team’s investors but the suite can also be used for hard working employees as a bonus/reward incentive or even company team building. I love the hospitality side of the team. At the end of the day when guests say thanks for a brilliant day out it makes it all worthwhile.
It takes 2 full days to put the hospitality unit together. The team feeds and caters for about 115 people on Sunday alone, in the middle of field!! A lot of teams think that hospitality is a necessary evil! We don’t agree with that… To win championships you need money and solid foundations…. To get the money required you need a title and associate sponsors. No team that I know has the ability to sustain a serious title assault without the assistance of a title sponsor. You do the Math!!! We need each other to achieve our team’s aims. WIX Filtration are a fantastic addition to the team, we work really well together and their pro-active support is appreciated and respected.
We are now looking forward to a brilliant weekend at Croft to put us right back in the thick of the action before the summer break, during which, we will attempt to improve the car further.
